Needed: Strong Backs and Minds

Well, strong backs only is acceptable……

As we all know, the Red River Gorge Climbers’ Coalition and the Pendergrass Murray Recreational Preserve is run by its users for its users. As users, when we are out at the crag and deep in the woods playing, it’s easy to forget how those trails got there and how much work it takes to maintain them. This is your chance to give back to the land you love and use by signing up for one of our many trail days; or better yet, sign up for all of them!

May 05, 2012- Traveling Access Fund trail day. The Access Fund has a traveling trail crew that made its debut at Rocktoberfest 2011. Since the event was during RF and did not get the advertisement it needed, our support to them was on the low side. The AF crew did not let that stop them, and they created some amazing stairs at the Solar area and did some much needed maintenance around the area. This year, let’s show them what we got and make this trail day a huge success!! Work will be done all over the PMRP depending on how many volunteers we have. Meet at the Sore Heel parking lot at 9:30am for trail assignments and carpooling.

JATD Party

August 11, 2012- If you only come to one trail day a year (though, we all know you will hit at least two)… this is the one to hit! The Johnny and Alex Trail Day is one of the largest trail days in the country and we expect this year to be our biggest yet. Hundreds of workers disperse over the entire PMRP like a colony of mad bees doing maintenance at all areas of the PMRP and building new trails like it was their job… The after party is one that should go down in the Guinness Book of World Records for having too much fun… Come join us for a day of honoring two great men of the Red, a day of hard work, a night time of great partying full of bluegrass music, adult beverages, food and friends! Meeting time and place will be announced closer to time of event.

September 1, 2012- We will be working in a few areas of the PMRP. Meet at the Sore Heel parking lot at 9:30am and we will carpool to the area.

September 2012- Volunteer to help at Rocktoberfest! This is a HUGE year the PMRP and the RRGCC. We expect this year’s festival to be the biggest yet and will need as many folks assisting as we can get. Please keep an eye out for the volunteer sign up information.

November 10, 2012- Climbers That Care Food/Clothing Drive and Trail Day. Each year we hold an event to gather food and clothing for the local community in need. Please plan to join us for this amazing cause and for the last scheduled trail day of the 2012 season. Meet at the Sore Heel parking lot at 10:00am for assignments and carpooling. The after party will be at Torrent Falls.

Thanks and please come out to support the lands YOU use and LOVE!
